Impressive list, but we can’t even get meals on wheels for my mother. Been trying to for 6 weeks or more now. Ridiculous!! Guess it’s lucky we cook for her. My mother only receives lawns mowed once a month on her commonwealth package.
Some time your budget may be to the limit ,depending on package level.you know you can Quire what is left in her budget .they have to supply a monthly Itemised Invoice. It is suppose to show how much left from month Before .How much came in this month from Government .Itemised what your services you had this month and what they charge you for to case manage and package management fee.and then what is left out of that month.you are aloud to demand why your mum can’t have these surveyed.
HPC funding is good in theory but in practice providers often refuse self managers reimbursement without giving reasons or with reasons that contradict the manual.
It is a constant battle keeping tabs on the provider, checking their figures and dealing with them. The care manager seems to act as a supporter of Services Australia rather than a advocate for the client.
The only time services Australia has any thing to do with your H.C.P is when you have A Surplus’s of Funds .instead of provider keeping it all they get A small % of it the rest goes to Services Australia to hold until Provider has spent what they have .and then they still don’t get it all.apart from that they have nothing to do with the Aged Care H.C.P. Queensland Health .does. You can alway complain to the Aged and Disability Commissioner.if you think the provider is not bring up from .They are suppose to give you a monthly Itamised Invoice of what Services the are giving .Plus any thing else you may have had supplied to you as in Equipment.OT.Physo.any thing .if you get a Invoice and it has something you never got you quire it .You can also Get Australia Advocacy go to bat for you .if you have no other family to help .always quire what you are not sure of .
Totally agree with above.
Try getting funding for assistive technology.was told it would come out of hcp3 but not covered,
Refused. Not covered.
Need brighter sensor lights for seeing if eyesight failing. Not covered.
Need electric scooter, not covered.
Told to de clutter….try it? Who pays for it.
Provider refused to pay for boxes and bunnings bags.
How do you declutter without storage facilities and people to assist with the clearing.
What category does that physical, assistance come under when they report.
Forever being told these items are not covered.
Buy your incontinence pads through Cole’s or Woolies in a general itemised docket..not covered.
get referred to a continence nurse who will organise pads for you . get things in writing amd quotes for approval first.. scooter is covered but has to be assessed by an Occupational therapist as stating you need one etc other wise forget it
Hi Susan you can apply for continence aides through CAPS funding . They will pay you every 12 months and it’s a substantial amount , I think it’s very helpful for me. Goes directly into your bank account in July of each year .

You know if you are not happy with the provider you can change to another .look around see what is out there carers Decision I think it called they will find you one Or Aged will give you a list .I had to change 3 time to find the right Provider for my Husband who would give him the right Support go to bat for him .I just emailed the old provider gave the 2 weeks notice of the date of termination (.you don’t have to explain why )in that 2 weeks notice I secured another provider .to start from the date of termination.you still get support from the old provider in those two week .
My husband and I have a level3 and 4 package for last 15 months and found an excellant provider and manager. They have delivered on everything and on time .We are in contact fortnightly and have accessed so many services which have been a godsend. I was referred from a friend who had their services ,you do need to do your homework and ask questions if not clear because its a bit to get your head around but well worth the trouble ,good luck .
Hi Pat, could I please ask what Provider you use and what area do you live in? Kind regards
Stella
Sounds great! But in reality they don’t even do dusting, apparently in case they break something!
Need assisting technology eg smoke alarm for 92 year old with hearing loss. I’ll see how I go with that request!
I’ve just came across your post. And you have so much there to read . But right now I’m having an issue with seeing the printing very clear .
And I would like to have a chat with someone who can let me know if im eligible for any of your services. And how much it will cost me. THANK YOU. MARLENE
