Patricia Gillespie, a lively 100-year-old resident of James Milson Village in North Sydney, has become the first participant in KIIS FM’s ‘Tick it Before You Kick It‘ segment. Known for her adventurous spirit, Patricia marked the occasion with a thrilling jet boat ride around Sydney Harbour this week, which fulfilled one of her bucket list dreams.

Patricia, or “Pat” as she’s known to her friends, once travelled the world as an air hostess for TAA. While her first choice for this experience was Bali, she chose to stay local and revisit the city she loves with a fast-paced boat experience.

A resident of James Milson Village in North Sydney, Pat was delighted to take part in KIIS FM’s new segment as the first recipient. Accompanied by radio producers and JMV’s Lifestyle Coordinators, Pat took off from Circular Quay with Oz Jet Boating on Monday and during the ride, they passed by Kirribilli House, where Pat reflected on her remarkable life. “I used to live in Kirribilli for 50 years,” Pat said. “My husband was the Private Secretary to the Governor, and I met some incredible people – Prince Charles, Prince Phillip, and the Royal family, to name a few. I even had lunch with the Queen – it was like sitting with your best friends, ” she recalled. The energetic centenarian shared more stories of her fascinating life as the boat zoomed around the harbour. Despite her age, Pat demanded more speed. “I want to go faster!” she exclaimed. “It took three strong men to get me in the boat, but you have to be 100 to get that privilege,” she laughed.

Pat’s zest for life is infectious, and her secret to reaching 100 was something the popular radio hosts asked in a post-adventure radio interview on Tuesday. “Stop fussing; life is for living. Just enjoy life and be happy. The jolly bucket’s full after yesterday!” said Pat. James Milson Village takes pride in fostering an environment where residents can embrace life to the fullest, encouraging them to stay active and adventurous. The team was delighted to assist Pat with this special experience this week.
