You may have noticed that QR codes are becoming increasingly popular, and you will see many of our advertisers are using them in their display ads.

QR codes provide an easy way for our advertisers to provide you with more information than you will find in their advertisements by taking you from their printed static ad to their interactive website.

Nowadays, most people have smartphones or tablets, so below is a step-by-step guide to using them when reading our printed guide.

Get your Smartphone or Tablet Ready

Turn on your device: Press the power button to wake up your smartphone or tablet. Unlock your device: Use your password, PIN, or fingerprint if necessary.

Open Your Camera App: Find the camera app: Look for the camera icon on your device’s home screen. It usually looks like a small camera. Tap on the Camera icon: This will open the camera app.

Position Your Device: Hold your device steady. Hold your phone or tablet in front of the QR code on the advertisement. Frame the QR code: Make sure the QR code is clearly visible within the camera’s viewfinder. You don’t need to take a picture-just let the camera see the code.

Wait for the Link to Appear: Look for a notification. After a moment, a notification or pop-up should appear on your screen. This might be a link or a message saying that the QR code has been recognised. Tap the notification: Follow the on-screen instructions, usually by tapping on the notification or link.

Explore the Content: Read or view the content. The link will take you to a website or other digital content related to the advertisement. You can read more information, watch a video, or find out about special offers. Use your device’s back button: If you want to return to the previous screen, look for the back button on your device.

If You Need Help: Ask for assistance: If you’re having trouble, don’t hesitate to ask a family member or friend for help. Visit a local tech support centre: Some stores and libraries offer help with using technology. That’s it!
