Six page-turners to enjoy this summer

Whether you’re partial to a classic or enjoy more of a contemporary crime thriller, there are few pastimes as enjoyable as losing yourself between the pages of a good read – particularly when summer’s warmer months are fast approaching. And if you’re in the mood for a classic tome or a modern-day romance, there’s a book out there for you. Featuring home-grown authors, unlikely heroes and a much-loved classic beloved by readers the world over, here are some of the best books to escape with this summer.

Lessons in Chemistry by Bonnie Garmus

A recently released novel that has taken the literary world by storm, Lessons in Chemistry is a novel by Bonnie Garmus, set in the 1960s, where Elizabeth Zott, a brilliant but unappreciated chemist, navigates the challenges of being a woman in a male-dominated field. When she’s fired from her job, she seizes the opportunity to host a TV cooking show while secretly using it as a platform to promote her scientific ideas. The story is a witty and empowering exploration of gender roles, ambition, and the pursuit of one’s passions.

The 100 Years of Lenni and Margot

The One Hundred Years of Lenni and Margot is a heart-warming novel by Marianne Cronin.
